2005 Collusion
Paso Robles
This wine is not quite a conspiracy, but it's certainly a collusion of like-minded varietals in the pursuit of a remarkably complex and integrated wine. The 2005 Collusion is a blend of Malbec (57%), Cabernet Sauvignon (28%) and Petit Verdot (15%) that showcases Margarita Vineyard's exceptional synergy with Bordeaux varietals. A deep, inky hue anticipates warm, toasty aromas of blueberry, leather and fine tobacco. Layered flavors of black cherry, blueberry and cassis glide smoothly across a rich, balanced texture. Hints of cedar accompany ripe tannins on a long, structured finish.
Collusion is a versatile match for savory meat dishes, including herb-roasted rack of lamb and filet mignon, as well as hearty game stew and hard, flavorful cheese.
